“St Peter’s is here to offer an outstanding Oxford education to the most promising students, irrespective of means or background – and to do so in an environment that is supportive, friendly and inclusive. We are committed to helping students know their strengths and realise their potential, both through the excellent tutorial system and through their broader student experience.
Our students’ academic success across the past few years has been nothing short of remarkable, but we also know that academic achievement is not everything. Beyond their academic endeavours, we also want our students to be grounded and confident as people, and so to be well placed to become the creative, thoughtful and responsible contributors to, and leaders of, the future. We are pleased to see them go out into the world with an anchored sense of their own capacity, rooted in a respect for evidence-based enquiry and with an appreciation of the value of friendship, community, and, indeed, fun. In a complicated world, all of these things matter, both for individuals, and for wider society.”
“Relative to other colleges, St Peter’s finances are tight. There are, of course, some wonderful things – like a strong community spirit built on unpretentious friendliness – that money cannot buy. Nevertheless, money can help!
Student fee income does not come close to covering what is needed to deliver an Oxford education, and so – like all colleges – we have to seek additional sources of income.
We are fortunate to have an endowment of any size. Nevertheless, given that our endowment is one of the very lowest in Oxford, this does not deliver the level of annual income that is available to the wealthier colleges.
The financial challenge for St Peter’s is, therefore, to deliver on all of the wonderful things it means to be an Oxford college, with the excellent, student-attentive tutorial model at its heart, without the income available to us on which most of our neighbouring colleges can depend.”
“And this means that we are all the more grateful for the ongoing help and support of our alumni body to enable us to do all we do, and with as much imaginative verve and care as possible.
From the life-changing experience of learning to engage in meaningful debate and building a lasting intellectual curiosity through tutorials, to the provision of the beautiful College library; from the welfare support we offer to the upkeep of the estate; from student grants and bursaries to providing affordable food in Hall; from sporting opportunities to musical ones. See below for ways of supporting the life and work of the College.
The cross-generational support we receive for College projects is a very special thing indeed. Your support helps to make this possible.
By joining together to support the College, you help us sustain and build this extraordinary experience for future generations of students. Your support makes a huge difference. We could not do this without you, and we could not be more grateful. Thank you.”

This year, we are expanding our traditional Telethon by offering updates here as regularly as possible, often in real time, providing alumni and friends with more opportunities to learn about some of our current projects, see our efforts, share our progress with friends and cheer us on!
Our student callers are excited to be connecting with alumni during our annual Spring Telethon. They love hearing about your experiences, gaining valuable advice, updating you on current news and events, and inviting your support for the College. We would really love to speak with you! Please click here to schedule a call.
Or if you can’t speak to a student this year, please consider making a gift to the projects below.
Finally, please share our exciting Telethon campaign with your St Peter’s friends and networks.
